Ten days ago, on the 12th, we bought in a market in Lachine these beets. Contrary to the regular purple variety, these were either orange or red. We got both.
After brushing, the colors stand out more.
But after cooking in a pressure cooker for about 20 minutes, they lost all their color! What a shame!
After peeling and slicing, some color was still visible. Looks like the orange ones become yellow and the red ones either kept some of the red they had or became white. The big white one was sweet. The yellow ones were good but not as tasty as the regular purple ones. The red ones were slightly bitter. All in all, I do not recommend these curious varieties. Stick to the purple ones, they are still the best!
